Buddhism is more than just a religion, it can also be a philosophy or a moral discipline. Every seven days, starting from the day of the individual’s passing, until the 49th day, we hold memorial services for the individual. According to Buddhist teachings, when a person dies, their soul enters an intermediate state before being reborn. The 49-day mourning period is a deeply meaningful time when the soul journeys through an intermediate state, known as Bardo, before rebirth or spiritual liberation. In Buddhist beliefs, death is not the end, it marks a transition.
